Americans can't answer rudimentary science questions —
Do you know how long the Earth takes to revolve around the Sun? Do you know that the humans and dinosaurs did not live at the same time? Can you roughly approximate the percent of the Earth’s surface that is covered with water?
If you answered yes to all three, you have a better science education than 79% of adults in the US. Only about half knew the answer to any one of those questions. A national survey commissioned by the California Academy of Sciences reveals that the U.S. public is unable to pass even a basic scientific literacy test. [via]
